Improving the rider's hands -

A quick tip - ride in the dark!

Want a quick tip?  Well, here's a IMMEDIATE fix for the rider's hands.

Make sure you are safe, and if you are a junior, injured or nervous, then make sure someone is with you, but then turn out your arena lights, or ride just on sunset, with two little tiny torches in your hands.

After all the years I have had training riders, this is one of the fastest, easiest ways to improve the rider's hands.  This is what's called BIOFEEDBACK.   Biofeedback is when you use some kind of external monitor to measure and bring your attention that a particular area of your body.

You don't need sophisticated digital real-time pictures to analyse your every movement...just two little flashlights will tell you all you need to know:

bullet

Do your hands roll over, or is the
thumb the highest point

bullet

Are your hands 'high or low'.

bullet

Are your hands still or do the lights wobble everywhere?

bullet

Do both lights point at the horses nostrils.  Does one point up and one point down?

Once you have an idea of what you do, then read the major texts and see what the judges actually require of your hand position for your sport
