Organizer's Checklist
What you need run a Clinic/Lessons
|
Evening
Lectures
You only need
a small number of people for lessons, and if you're looking for a new
fundraising idea, I might be able to
donate
a lecture or demo
Evening lectures start
at 7:00pm and finish around 9:30pm, and all funds raised at the
door go to your club. You will need:
-
The Venue
Get a hall or meeting room
DONATED (so you don't waste your fundraising money).
-
Refreshments
& snacks
Have light snacks included in the door price, or run a
cafeteria. A great way to increase fundraising!
-
PowerPoint Display
Ideal for indoors,
however if your venue is outdoors, we can adjust it to suit.
You will need
a) A laptop (with PowerPoint)
b) Projector
c) Large screen
-
Extra Fundraising -
$7,000 in
ONE NIGHT!
Have a shorter lecture, followed by an auction afterwards.
Ideal donated items are weekends at resorts, hairdressers gift
certificates, stallion owners donating services, fishing cruises,
helicopter rides, restaurant dinners or bottles of wine. And,
it's the smallest, most
remote clubs that
have raised the most money in the past! $7,000 in
one night is our record.

Morning Demonstrations
Charge an additional fee for
the morning demo, or include it in a package for both events.
All funds raised at the door, go to your club! Morning demos
start at 8:30am, and go until 10:00am. Here's what you'll need.
-
The
Venue
An INDOOR
arena is
preferred, however, if your group only has an outdoor, try approaching
local indoor venue owners. Often arena
owners will donate their arena for the fundraiser, and in return
for the information they gain, plus the promotion for their venue as
well.
-
Demo riders (Get a
FREE lesson!)
Arrange
2 demo riders of your best standard. A great "reward" for
people who help in your club. A BRILLIANT way to get a lesson
for free! It's lots of fun, and
non-threatening or embarrassing at all.
-
Music
& Microphone
Please have a look at
the article on :
regularity and rhythm.
If you can provide a music system, or at the very least a small
CD player you will be able to enjoy and understand so much more.
A microphone is definitely appreciated.
Lessons - Cost & Info
There is no
cost whatsoever to your group if a lecture/demos is donated.
Private and shared lessons can be found here:
lesson
costs.
Accommodation & Meals
Accommodation
(a club member's home is absolutely fine) & all meals need to be
arranged for Colleen and normally one assistant. Due to recent
health issues with lupus, fibromyalgia and serious back problems, I would appreciate
any help you can give us with carrying bags, arranging for chairs, and light,
vegetarian meals if possible - but please don't go to
too much trouble cooking!
Transport
Transfer to
and from the airport, or from the previous clinic and to the next venue
after your clinic must be arranged by your group well in advance.
Promoting your event
To gain the
most from your fundraising, you really must promote the event locally as
much as possible.
Here's
what we can do:
► A
flier (similar to those on the coming events pages) ► Press release & photos for the local paper ► An advertisement on our website ► A mail out to our mailing list
for your area
Here's
where you can advertise:
►
Saddlery & produce stores ► Newspaper article (we can
provide photos) ► Windshield wipers at horse shows ►
Farriers, vets, massage people that travel in the local area ►
Your email list ► Other clubs to help spread the word
of your fundraiser ► Internet forums for your area ► Equestrian Federation/Pony
Clubs/Adult Riding in your area ► Registered coaches ►
Agistment & riding centers
